Valentine's Day Makeup Look #2

Hello Everyone!

This is a look that focuses on a bold eye and nude lip. When I do my makeup I try to keep things balanced (it doesn't always work out that way though haha). If i do something bold on my lips, I do a natural eye. If I'm doing a bold eye, I keep the lips natural. Then there are times where I wear a bold eye and lip, but there are no rules to makeup so do as you please. I would like to apologize for my brows that seemed to have a mind of their own today.

This look requires the Lorac Pro Palette or similar shades (shades: matte cream (Cream), shimmery dark purple (Deep Purple), matte medium brown (Sable),  shimmery silver/purple (Pewter), matte dark brown (Expresso), matte white (White)).

Valentine's Day Makeup Look

Hello Everyone!

As you know, Valentine's Day is quickly approaching. Even if you aren't in a relationship it's still fun to go out with friends or pamper yourself on this special day. The best part is that the next day all the candy goes on sale, so we're all winners in the end. I do not have anything planned this year and just figured I would have a movie night or something. Since one of my favorite colors is pink, this is a Valentine's makeup look focussed around that color. If you do not like pink, no worries. I will be creating different looks up until Valentine's Day.

This look requires the Naked 3 palette or similar rose gold shades.

Face

- Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup (Desert Beige)
- MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (NW25)
- MAC Studio Fix powder (NC40)
- Benefit Hoola Bronzer (Contour cheeks)

- Milani Baked Blush (Rose D'Oro)

Covergirl Tru Magic - Sunkisser & Skin Perfector

Hello Everyone!

Covergirl has recently been releasing loads of new products and new collections. As you may know by my "What I Got For Christmas" post, I received the Covergirl Tru Magic - The Sunkisser and the Tru Magic - Skin Perfector in my stocking. Now that I have had some time to play with these products I will be sharing my thoughts about them.

These products are in regular plastic compacts, but are square shaped. The packaging itself is a bit bulky, but if you do use the sponge then you need the extra space. Unlike most compacst that now have the sponge below the product, these require you to put the sponge on top. I'm not a huge fan of using sponges since I do suffer from occasional acne, but these sponges are pretty great. They are really soft and the texture allows you to blend the product in a very natural looking way. The tops of the compacts are clear, which is great since you can see what product you are picking without having to open it or look for a label. In the collection there is a skin perfector (I'm guessing this could be a primer), a bronzer and highlighter.

The Sunkisser is meant to be a bronzer that gives your face a natural "touch of sun" look. The texture is a balm that seems to blend and settle into a matte, powdery finish. These products were meant to be worn alone, under, or over makeup. This bronzer is very easy to blend, which was a bit of a surprise since the texture is so unique. The Sunkisser gives the most beautiful, natural glow that gives the face  a sun-kissed look (I lack complete originality when it comes to describing this without using the name somehow). It is easy to build up to contour the cheek bones and smooth enough to lightly bronze the rest of the face. The texture is not greasy and stays matte on the face for a decent amount of time.

Since there is no real explanation as to what the Skin Perfector's actual use is, I use it as a primer. This is perfect to use alone or under makeup. It's isn't the best to use over makeup since blending it involves moving around whatever product you already have on your face. Applying this with my fingers is what works best for my face. This smooths my face and blurs the look of my pores. It gives a matte look and feel without feeling heavy on the face. It is the same texture as the bronzer and keeps my face matte for most of the day. I do have oily spots on my face and this really helps to control the shine. This is a good primer for acne prone skin since it does not clog pores. This is to prefect primer to give a blank, smooth canvas for makeup.

Overall I am extremely impressed with this new line that Covergirl released. They work great with all skin-types and are all natural looking.

Hope you enjoyed this post :)

My New Baby.

Hello Everyone!

I would quickly like to point out that I have not given birth, adopted, or inherited a child from a relationship. This in fact has nothing to do with a human. This week I finally received a package that I have been waiting about a week for. Because of the holiday on Monday and horrible weather north of where I live, the package took a bit longer than expected to arrive. After waiting and saving, for what seemed like an eternity, I purchased a new camera. I was basically just using my phone to take pictures before, and lets be honest, they weren't the best quality. I have purchased the Canon EOS Rebel T3I camera and I couldn't be more excited. Along with the camera I purchased a bunch of different lenses and image enhancing accessories. I also have a tripod as well.

"What does this mean and what does this have to do with me?" At this point this must be what you are all thinking. Well this now gives me the opportunity to create a larger variety of posts that I was unable to do before. This includes posts including fashion and makeup looks that were much harder to see before. One post (it will be a once-a-month series) that I am really looking forward to are "My Week in Fashion." I started a series where I show my makeup for the week, but with this new equipment I will be able to do the fashion one (which I am really excited to do). I still am playing around with my camera and trying to figure it all out, but now that I am more familiar with it you should expect posts on a regular basis. Thank you very much for sticking around with my serious lack of blogging this month.

This is where I need help from all of you. I would love to know what kind of posts you would like to see. Feel free to leave any and all suggestions down below. I am open to everything and will attempt to do what you all wish to see. I will also be starting a new series on here that is a bit more personal. I know that isn't my regular thing, but I thought it would be fun to give it a go. Again thank you all for taking the time to read and comment on my posts. There are 285 of you now and you guys mean the world to me. Love you loads and see you very, very soon.

Hope you enjoyed this post :)

My Week in Makeup - January

Hello Everyone!

There has been a serious lack of blogging in the last couple of weeks, but that is due to events that were out of my hands. I started school this week so there have been many preparations for this semester. My laptop has also decided that it might be time to retire, which isn't good for school or blogging. The good news is that my new laptop should be arriving very soon as well as a new camera (yay for better quality pictures).

Since I haven't been able to make a FOTD post, I thought it would be fun to do "my week in makeup." This is basically the makeup I wore Monday through Friday to go out with friends or to run errands. My face makeup remained the same this week as I was trying new products (I will not bore you and repeat it over and over again). Please let me know if you like this kind of post as it will really help me out.

BornPrettyStore - Cherry Makeup Blusher*

Hello Everyone!

This is a continuation of my last post including items from the BornPrettyStore.

The very first thing that I noticed about this blush was the scent. I can't help but to think of my grandmother when I smell this, since it has an older makeup smell. Since I did not know the pigmentation of the blush I decided to go for the Cherry Makeup Blusher Blush Cosmetic Face Powder in #11. Although this blush is a bit powdery, it has amazing pigmentation. Surprisingly it is very easy to blend on your cheeks and doesn't look chalky on the face. A little goes a very long way with this blush so I highly recommend just lightly tapping a brush into it. It is also helpful if you tap the brush before you put it on your cheeks to get rid of any loose product. I think that this shade would be beautiful for the summer time. It can go with any skin tone if you work with it a bit. For $3.54 there is no reason to not give this product a go, but maybe a lighter shade might be a bit better (there are a couple more lighter shades available).

I don't like to have a very bright blush on since I feel as though it might look a little weird on my tanned skin. After working with this product, I was able to apply it in a very natural way. If you are one to go for bright blush, this is perfect for you. If you like more natural blush you will need to blend this blush a bit to make it not look so bright. Here is how the blush looked once I blended it in for a bit:

BornPrettyStore - 18 Color Eyeshadow Makeup Palette*

Hello Everyone!

The BornPrettyStore is an online shop that focuses on beauty products including makeup, nail polish and jewelry. They offer free worldwide shipping within 24 hours of placing the order and have amazing deals on their products. I opted for the 18 color eyeshadow makeup palette from the brand Car Mela. Most of the shades are earth-toned with some bright colors in the mix. All of the shades, except for the black shade, are shimmery. I am very impressed with the quality of the eyeshadows in this palette. They are very pigmented and feel very creamy and smooth. There are no major chunks of glitter in the eyeshadows that make it difficult to blend onto the eyelid. They blend very well together and although they may appear very similar in the palette, they are very distinct from each other. They remind me a bit of the Urban Decay eyeshadows, but at one-fifth of the price. You can find this eyeshadow palette here for $9.99. Although I do need to have another eyeshadow palette nearby with a couple of matte shades, you can create so many different and beautiful looks with this palette. I am very eager to try different palette and to add them in my collection.

These are two different looks that I decided to go for with this palette. The first is a very simple everyday look that is great for school or work. The second look is a bit more dramatic and can be used on nights out with friends or events.

For the first look I used the second shade from the top row all over my lid. Using the fourth shade from the top row, I applied it to the outer 1/3 of my lid and blended it in with the other shade. With the third shade from the top row, I made a "V" shape in the outer corner of my eyes and blended it with the other eyeshadows.

The second look was created the same way as the first, but with darker shades. On my entire lid I used the fourth shade from the last row. In the outer 1/3 of the lid I blended in the first shade of the last row. To make the outer "V" shape, I used the third shade from the last row. On my lower lash line I blended the first and fourth shade from the last row to bring the whole look together.

I highly recommend this palette because of the amazing quality of eyeshadows that you get for such a low price. I have also been provided with a 10% off coupon code for any purchase that you make on the BornPrettyStore website. Simply type in the code EZG10 to receive the discount.

Hope you enjoyed this post :)

Beauty Favorites of 2013

Hello Everyone!

I hope that you all had an amazing New Year and are excited to see what this year has in store for you. Instead of doing a December Favorites, I figured I would sum up my favorite beauty products of the entire year. Some of these categories were very simple, but others required alot of deliberation with myself. After some time I finally chose the products that I wanted to share as my favorites. I tried to really minimize the amount of products that I mentioned, but also trying not to leave anything out. Here are my Beauty Favorites of 2013:

Skincare

When it comes to my skincare routine, nothing really stays the same for too long. I feel like my skin quickly gets used to products and they stop working for me rather quickly. These are three products that I constantly used throughout the year and have helped to improve my skin. Before washing my face I love to use the Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes to remove my makeup. These wipes are super moist and you only need one to remove a full face of makeup. These wipes have not made me break out which is a huge plus for me.

For moisturizer I like to switch between two different products. In the morning, I used the Re Gen Cream. This moisturizer has a more oily consistency which makes a great base for my makeup. This cream is great for lightening scars and helped to improve the dry spots on my face. As a night moisturizer I quickly feel in love with the Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair moisturizer. This has really helped to even out my skin tone and helped with my hyperpigmentation as well.

Hair

Half of this year consisted of me having ombre hair so I had to be very careful with what I did to my hair. To avoid adding heat, I began to use sea salt spray. My favorite product was the Toni&Guy Sea Salt Texturizing Spray. This helped to add texture and shape to my hair without damaging it. Since I also have very long hair it tends to get a bit flat due to the weight. The Garnier Fructis Volume Extend Instant Bodifier Dry Shampoo was my most repurchased hair product. I don't use this to clean my hair, but rather for the volume reason. You can instantly see a difference in my hair once I spray this in my roots and rub my fingers through it.

Face

It is not very common for me to repurchase some makeup products. I love trying new ones, so I only repurchase those that really won me over. A foundation that beat out my high-end foundations and that I repurchased this year was the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation. This foundation makes my lines and pores less visible without looking cakey. This has medium coverage, but can easily be made full coverage and gives a flawless finish. For concealer I recently began to use the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and I am hooked. It is not thick and easy to blend, but still gives amazing coverage. As a setting powder the Revlon Nearly Naked pressed powder was my go-to powder. This has a bit of coverage (which I like) and doesn't make your face look all powdery. This powder looks flawless over the foundation mentioned above.

Choosing a bronzer was rather simple since I have used this every single day since I bought it. I love to use the Benefit Hoola bronzer to contour my face. Now I know this might look a little muddy on some people, but since I have a medium skin tone it's fine for me. Since I am pretty tanned I don't bronze my face much, I just use this product to contour my cheeks. A blush that I tend to pick up more often than all the others is the Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso. It is a beautiful coral color that looks very natural, yet goes with most skin tones.

Eyes

Choosing my favorite eyeshadow was a rather simple task. I narrowed this category down to two products since I switch on and off between these two almost everyday. The best thing is that these two work together beautifully or individually. For days when I am in a rush or want to put a base, I love to use the Maybelline Color Tattoos. As you can see I am a little obsessed with all the neutral colors. These are very similar (sometimes I think better) than the MAC paint pots. A palette that was just recently released but that I cannot get enough of is the Lorac Pro palette. I have talked about this many times before so I won't go into too much detail. You can create almost any look with this palette and it is a great combination of matte and shimmer shades.

Lips

I really wanted to narrow down the amount of lip products that I wanted to mention, but didn't do so well. My goal was to choose one or two, but I finally decided on four lip products that are my most used. MAC Hang-Up is one of my favorite deep lip colors. It is a deep red color that is more on the purple side. This is a cremesheen formula which is my favorite formula from MAC. Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 107 is my most used of the four. It is a deep red color that is more matte than the MAC color. These lipstick are very inexpensive and have a great formula.

When I am not wearing red/purple, I am usually be wearing a nude/pinkish color. The Revlon ColorBurst Mate Balm is a beautiful deep nude color. I have naturally colored lips so the nude lip colors that I wear are deeper than most nude colors. I absolutely love these matte shades as well as the lacquer shades. For the perfect baby doll pink shade I had to go with the Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer in Nova. I have a few of these lip lacquers and they are amazing for the price that you pay. These do require precise application because of how opaque they are, but they are great.

These were my favorites of 2013 and I would love to know what yours were. I tired to make this as short as possible, but I'm not too sure that I was able to accomplish that. I was hoping that with a new year I would be able to get used to writing posts, but it seems as though I am still not there yet.

Hope you enjoyed this post :)
What were your favorite beauty products of 2013?
