5 under $5 - November

Hello Everyone!

November is quickly coming to an end and I am not complaining at all. Thanksgiving is next week and then Christmas will be here. It also means that I can take a break from school and being able to visit my brother and his family for the holidays. Anyways for this post I though I thought I would share with you a couple of very inexpensive products that I love to use.

5 under $5 - November

1. TRESemme Tres Two Ultra Fine Mist Hair Spray - I have used this hair spray for years and I absolutely love it. It works great to hold hair in place, but it does not leave your hair feeling stiff and gross. It dries very fast and is humidity resistant. I use this just about every day after I style of my hair it keeps my hair from getting frizzy.

Price: $3.98

2. Garnier Fructis Style Sleek & Shine Anti-Humidity Smoothing Milk - Again I have used this product for years and have not found anything that I like more than this. After I style my hair, I will take some of this into my hands and apply it all over. My hair looks so much more healthier and it doesn't get frizzy throughout the day.

Price: $3.47

3. Jordana INCOLOR Fabuliner Liquid Eyeliner (Black) - Jordana makes some amazing eyeliners and this one is one of my favorites. The color is so rich and dark and stays for a very long time. It is very easy to apply and the tip of the eyeliner isn't dry like some other felt-tip eyeliners.

Price: $1.99

4. Rimmel London Scandaleyes Shadow Stick (Bad Girl Bronze) - I love me some Rimmel. These shadow sticks make a great bases for other eyeshadows or look great on their own. For this dark color I will apply it all over my lid and blend it out onto my crease. They are creamy and very pigmented.

Price: $3.59

top: Black
bottom: Bad Girl Bronze

5. Carmex Moisturizing Lip Balm - I have talked about this many times before, but I just love this lip balm. It leaves my lips feeling incredibly soft and hydrated. I have tried many different lip balms, but you will always find one of these in my handbag.

Price: $2.74 (a pack of 3)

Tarte Gorgeous Getaways Portable Palette Set

Hello Everyone!

It is holiday season which means loads of gift sets from many high-end brands are being released. I don't know about you guys, but I cannot be more excited for the holiday season and I have something very special coming up next month so I'm looking forward to that as well. The Tarte Gorgeous Getaways Portable Palette Set (try saying that five times fast haha!) is an Ulta exclusive and available only for a limited time.

The limited-edition set features:
  • 16 full size Amazonian Clay Eye Shadows inspired by magical destinations around the world
  • 4 full size Amazonian 12-Hour Clay Blushes in new, limited-edition shades
  • 3 full size Maracuja Lipglosses in new, limited-edition shades
  • Portable collector's compact to take the interchangeable palettes on-the-go

I am in love with the concept of being able to have a palette set and then being able to take a small set with you on the go. The colors of the eyeshadows are more on the neutral side of the color spectrum, which I like since it makes all the colors very wearable. The formula for the blushes and shadows are all Amazonian Clay so they last much longer on my face than other products that I use. The lipglosses are more on the pinky side, but I absolutely love their formula. They feel amazing on the lips and look good on so many different skin tones. The compact is an adorable gold bow which looks very girly and fun. There is also a mirror on the inside which is a major plus for me.

Overall, I think that this set is one of the best holiday sets I have tried this season. All of the colors are pigmented and beautiful. This would make an amazing gift for someone or just a little treat for yourself. I can see myself using this way beyond the holiday season. Tarte sets have been very impressive this season and it really makes me want to try more of them.

Hope you enjoyed this post :)

Revlon Color Burst Balms

Hello Everyone!

I am so sorry that I have been a horrible blogger this past month. With the semester coming to an end I am having to deal with many papers and exams that take up most of my time. The weather has also been totally Fall like here in Texas (which is very unusual) so taking any kinds of pictures has been nearly impossible. Anyways things should start getting back to usual so thank you for being patient and not abandoning me haha.

Here is a review of the new Revlon Color Burst Matte Balms and Revlon Color Burst Lacquer Balms:

Revlon Color Burst Matte Balms (Three matte on the top)
Revlon Color Burst Lacquer Balms (Three shiny on the bottom)

Top: 225 Sultry
Middle: 220 Showy
Bottom: 205 Elusive

I'm not going to lie and say that I was instantly drawn to these products. I figured that they would be the exact same thing as the Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains so I kind of just passed by them. I then saw that they had two different textured balms so took a second look at them. What originally caught my attention were the matte Color Burst Balms since I had never seen a lip stain that was a matte formula. These all have a menthol feel, so they are very minty. The texture of the balms are very smooth and opaque. They just glide and the lips and feel so hydrating. The matte do not settle into the creases of your lips which is a huge plus in my beauty book. They do stain the lips a bit which means that they last for such a long time. The colors are so rich and they are so easy to apply that they are great to just throw in your handbag and go.

Sultry is a matte mauve color. Showy is a bright bubblegum matte color. Elusive is more of a mauvey pink color. Provocateur is a bright red lacquer color. Flirtatious is a magenta lacquer color with some sparkles. Tease is an orange lacquer color. Overall I am completely and totally in love with these balms. I purchased mine in Walgreens for $8.99 each (they were having a buy one get one half off sale) and I highly recommend them.

Get Ready with Me featuring Lorac Pro To Go

Hello Everyone!

I received so much positive feedback from my last Get Ready with Me that I thought I would do another. If you would like to see how I prep my face before makeup and how I prime my eyes, you can head over to my first Get Ready with Me here to see.

This is the look that I will be giving a step by step post about. It has been one of my favorite looks over the past couple of weeks and I hope you enjoy it as well. This look was focused around the Lorac Pro To Go palette that includes eyeshadows, blushes and a bronzer.

After prepping my face, I decided to use the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Barcelona. Although the name says sheer, this foundation has amazing coverage. I was having a rather good skin day so I didn't need any concealer over this foundation. To apply, I like to shake the foundation for a couple of seconds like the bottle indicates to do. Putting a small amount on the back of my hand, I will then dot this all over my face. Using the Real Techniques Expert Face brush I blend the foundation onto my skin. This foundation does take a bit longer to blend that other foundations but once it is blended it looks amazing on the skin. Using the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Brightener, I make a V shape under my eyes. Using the same brush I will blend this into my eye area and bring it up onto my cheek bones towards my hair line (where you would put highlighter).

This is my skin with just foundation and the brightener. As you can see the foundation gives a medium, almost full, coverage. It is very buildable and doesn't feel heavy on the skin. After I applied the first layer, I simply added a tad bit more on areas with hyperpigmentation and the foundation did a great job in covering it.

The colors that come in the palette can easily make many different full looks. For this look I first applied the shade Cafe in my crease and slightly above with the Real Techniques Deluxe Crease brush (this brush is great if you have hooded eyes and want to apply eyeshadow in your crease and above). I simply made back and forth motions to blend the shadow into my crease and make the harsh line more smooth. Using the EcoTools Shade brush, I took the shade Shell and applied it on my lid and towards my crease. If you have hooded eyes it is okay to go all the way to the crease, but if you don't stop just before the crease. Taking my Real Techniques Domed Shadow brush I used the shade Chai and applied it to the outer V. Remember it is easier to add than to take away, so add small amount first and then add as you wish. With my Real Techniques Base Shadow brush I will make circular and back and forth motions to blend the eyeshadows. Instead of using eyeliner on my eyelid, I took my Eco Tools angled brush and took the Black shade to line my eyes.

To line my upper water line I used the black Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof  Eye Liner. After curling my eyelashes with my Revlon eyelash curler, I applied mascara. For this look I used the Orgins GinZing Brightening Mascara to Lengthen and Lift. This mascara is great if you want a better than you lashes look.

To set my foundation I used the NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder-Pressed in Translucent Crystal. This really helps to blur any pores or lines that you may have and is a great setting powder. I like to lightly sweep this all over my face with my Real Techniques Multi Task brush. Since it is translucent, any skin tone can use it which is great. Using my e.l.f. Bronzing Brush I will lightly tap into my Sleek Face Contour Kit (Medium). I will make a diagonal line from the top of my ear towards my mouth but not all the way. Then I go back and with zig-zag motions will blend it in.

Back to the Pro To Go palette, I decided to use the Coral blush. It is a beautiful color that adds a bit of shimmer to your cheeks. I applied this to my cheeks with my EcoTools Blush brush. I used the Bronzer with my Real Techniques blush brush to make a B3 shape on my face. I love that this bronzer isn't that dark and just gives you a slight tan look without looking orange or too dark. I also blended this onto my forehead along my hairline.

Taking my EcoTools Highlight brush, I swished the brush into the cap of my Vanilla Pigment. A little goes a long way with this pigment so I don't suggest dipping it into the pigment itself. I applied this to the inner corners of my eyes and onto my brow bones. To finish the look I used my L'Oreal Colour Rich Le Matte in Matte-r of Fact and applied this to my lips.

This is the completed look.

Here is a close up of the eye look.

I hope you enjoyed this post :)

October Favorites - 2013

Hello Everyone!

First I would like to apologize for my lack of blogging this past week. I have been really sick and swamped in homework and exams.

As you all know October is over and here are the products that I loved this past month. Most of these products are focused around the fact that I have been sick and waking up late for school almost everyday so you might quickly see a pattern here.

October Favorites - 2013

Skincare:

For my face I have really been loving the St. Ives Blemish Control Green Tea Scrub. I have tried the apricot ones and they didn't seem to do much for my skin, but this green tea scrub has really helped my skin stay under control with blemishes.

I recently rediscovered my love for the Re-Gen Cream. I have pretty normal skin but some dry patches. Due to the weather change my dry patches got really dry and was making makeup very difficult to apply. I found this cream in the back of my makeup table and knew this would help immediately. My skin already feels and looks so much better.

Makeup:

Like I mentioned before I have been really sick so help brighten my undereyes I have been using the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles (Brightener). Making a V shape under my eyes, I blend this in with a brush and you see a huge difference in the look of your face.

To hide blemishes and dark spots I have been loving the Maybelline Super Stay 24 Concealer. This hides everything and lasts a really long time. It matches my skin perfectly which is difficult for my skin tone. I will apply this to my troubled areas and then just blend it in with my fingers.

I haven't gone too crazy with my eye makeup this month. It really has been very neutral and quick looks to get me out the door as fast as possible. Of course you can never go wrong with the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette. What I love most is that you have everything that you need in one single palette so you don't have to search for other products. Also, this is the perfect size to throw in my handbag and take with me if I have to apply my makeup on the go.

Another neutral palette that I loved this month was the L'Oreal Colour Riche quad in Cupa Joe. If you are looking for an all matte neutral palette than I highly recommend this to you. It is perfect to make an amazing brown eye. It also has everything that you need so it is worth the price.

Since I have been going very natural for my eyes I have been wearing a bright lip to make my face look complete. Of course the perfect fall color for me has been MAC Rebel. It is just beautiful on all skin tones and if you can find it, you should totally get it.

Again to make my eyes look brighter I have been using the MAC Vanilla Pigment. Using a fluffy brush, I will put some in the inner corners of my eyes and they instantly look bright and awake.

My skin has been a total wreck recently so the Tart Amazonian Clay foundation has been my best friend. Although this says it is a full coverage foundation, it really isn't. I would say that it is medium coverage but very buildable. I don't know why, but my skin looks amazing when I wear this and it has become my favorite foundation at the moment.

Now I have talked about this product many times before and it is the Garnier Fructis Volume Extend Instant Bodifier Dry Shampoo. I just love this stuff for a quick way to make my hair full of volume.

Random:

I have been obsessed with the Flannel scented candle from Bath & Body Works. It is more of a musky/manly smell and for some reason I can't get enough of it. I love getting these in mini sizes and just putting them all over the place during the Fall and Winter time.

Now the last favorite thing is a total random item. I found this unicorn ring in a set at Forever 21 and I wear it just about everyday. I have a strange thing about wanting to buy everything that has a unicorn on it and I have no idea why. This ring is just adorable and I'm so glad I found it.

Hope you enjoyed this post :)
